Marketing the Art of Filling a Need of an Attentive Audience as Seen During the Depression

The other day my son goes to the library, a weekly routine with his little sister and grandma. During the summer school encourages him to read by suggesting that he read or we read to him 100 books over the summer. Fairly daunting for a kindergarten grad but we are working on it.

Knowing his dad’s love for baseball he brings home a book not only about baseball but on of dad’s favorite players Babe Ruth. A note to parent’s watch what you say and do around your children, he actually remembered that after a conversation I had with over 1 month ago. Furthermore, one day I found him looking at the Babe Ruth picture I have and explaining to his little sister that “Dad’s says that this guy was the greatest baseball player ever.”

So we go to read the book and what do you know it’s not only a book about Babe Ruth but also marketing. Not fully understanding that marketing is my second love in life, he might

How to Get Your White Sox Tickets and Enjoy the History of the Team

Fans are even ready to kill to get the White Sox Tickets. Based in Illinois, the Chicago White Sox are a Major League baseball team. The White Sox club was founded in Chicago in 1901. Today, they are a member of the Central Division of the American League. Their ball park from 1991 till date has been the U.S. Cellular Field [earlier known as New Comiskey Park]. The Past Of The Team

The Rain Maker Sports: Sports Bytes – May 20, 2010

Kudos to Seattle Mariners outfielder Milton Bradley. Bradley has overstayed his welcome in every city he has played in, but Seattle may be different. Recognizing that he has emotional issues that need addressing, Bradley spent two weeks undergoing professional counseling. And judging by his honest, mature comments to the media, the help appears to be working. “I don’t have all the answers. I’m not saying I’m cured. I’m committed to this process. It’s the best thing for me.” Good for you, Milton . . .

That was quick. After making it clear that he has no intention of apologizing to his Marlins teammates, Hanley Ramirez did a 180-degree turn and offered a mea culpa to each member of the club. Marlins third baseman Wes Helms reports, “He told us he was sorry and he was wrong … and he wouldn’t let it happen again.” Ramirez deserves a lot of credit for the manner in which he apologized. Instead of just making a general apology through the media, Ramirez

George Steinbrenner, Bob Sheppard, and Your Network Marketing Business!

This past week, two giants in baseball history passed away. These two great men possessed two distinct qualities that every business owner must develop in order to succeed. They certainly do apply as it pertains to building your home based business. Now, if you’re not a huge New York Yankee fan, that’s ok. You just have to respect the two men for what I’m about to share. Two qualities…passion and attention to detail. That’s the common thread between George Steinbrenner, Bob Sheppard, and succeeding with your network marketing business.

First let’s talk about George Steinbrenner, super successful businessman. Now you may not always have liked or agreed with his demeanor or style. What you have to admire was his tenacity and his will to win. He did whatever it took to put a championship caliber team on the field each season. He was constantly striving to be the very best. Any year that the Yankees didn’t win the World Series was considered a

Watch Baseball Minnesota Twins Vs La Angels Online

The Minnesota Twins spent their offseason making sure their homegrown star would stick around for a very long time. The Los Angeles Angels were more focused on bringing in some outside help.

Armed with some new talent in their quest for a fourth straight AL West title, the Angels open the season against Joe Mauer and the Twins on Monday night in Anaheim.

Minnesota signed the 26-year-old Mauer to a 4 million, eight-year extension in March that keeps him under contract through 2018. While the Twins also added Orlando Hudson and Jim Thome over the winter, extending Mauer was the top offseason priority for a club that’s opening a new stadium with hopes of advancing in the postseason for the first time since 2002.

Mauer hit .365 with a career-best 28 home runs and 96 RBIs in 2009 despite starting the season on the disabled list to recover from a back injury. He went on to

The Name of the Mascot

The Name of the Mascot

Shakespeare could wax poetic about ‘What’s in a Name?’ because he didn’t have to contend with sports mascots …

It’s the politically-correct issue in America that refuses to subside. I consider myself to be an enlightened cyberbeing, but I contend there are just some topics that blur the bigger picture of an ethically responsible society, and complaining that mascots can be degrading is near the top of the list.

A quick check of Webster’s Twentieth Century Unabridged Dictionary defines ‘mascot’ as ‘any person, animal or thing supposed to bring good luck by being present.’ So, it would seem that a team mascot is an honorable title. Most mascots in American sports had their origins in the early 1900s. Back then, teams fumbled around with quaint monickers until they gradually realized the tremendous marketing value they carried. The New York Highlanders became the more regionally-identifiable Yankees, for instance, and the Chicago Cubs took their

Indians-Red Sox Preview
The Boston Red Sox can head into a series with their rivals carrying some momentum, and having Daisuke Matsuzaka on the mound against the Cleveland Indians might help.

Matsuzaka will try to earn his third straight win and help the Red Sox split their four-game set against the visiting Indians on Thursday night.

The Red Sox (61-47) trail Tampa Bay and the New York Yankees by 6 1/2 games for the AL East lead and the wild card. They could make up ground in one or both of those races in a four-game series at Yankee Stadium beginning Friday night.

First, Boston would like to finish a seven-game homestand in positive fashion, and Matsuzaka (7-3, 4.22 ERA) might be the right man to make it happen.

The right-hander is

Guide to Babe Ruth’s Baseball Memorabilia

Baseball is the number one sport that has captured the hearts of Americans, both young and old. That is the reason why baseball memorabilia is also popular and in-demand in the country. Nearly all the things that baseball athletes use in and out of the field have fetched a considerable amount of money, especially those that have been used by baseball legends like Baseball Hall of Famer Babe Ruth.

For many baseball fanatics, money is not an issue. They are willing to pay a huge amount of money for rare mementos and collectibles like bats, signed pictures and baseballs. Most of their collections are also well guarded and increase in value through time.

Top collectors seek after baseball memorabilia left by Babe Ruth because the man is a legend. Anywhere he was placed, he consistently showed his baseball prowess, both as a pitcher and batter. He made and broke his own homerun and other records several times during the span of his long
